Description & Responsibilities

The VP, Head of Global Risk Solutions Incubation, Solaria Labs manages a team of project managers, product managers, and product owners who advance efforts throughout the product lifecycle. He/she will be accountable for selection of efforts and leading teams through complex development efforts, product launch and ongoing management & operation of in-market products, and eventual transfer of efforts to scaled operation. Key responsibilities include:

Lead the execution of a portfolio of incubated programs aligned to the overall Liberty Mutual Innovation agenda and GRS Strategic goals, evaluating alignment and progress toward goals on an ongoing basis and advise decisions on killing, continuing, accelerating, or scaling efforts
Represent and advocate for the innovation portfolio as a whole, ensuring that it reflects the ambitions and needs of the core business while bringing tangible value to GRS in the short, medium, and long term.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with partner teams from across GRS and Liberty. Work together to access capabilities, knowledge and capacity needed to pursue opportunities while maintaining independence and flexibility to challenge the status quo.
Deliver innovation at the lowest possible cost, anticipating future needs and deploying resources against the highest value opportunities.
Support ongoing work to assess trends across Liberty’s Innovation focus areas (e.g. future of commerce), competitor strategies and actions to assess new opportunities to innovate within Liberty.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelor`s degree in business, economics, or other quantitative field. Advanced degree and/or ACAS/FCAS designation preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in jobs with progressive responsibility, preferably in insurance, corporate strategy, incubation and/or an innovation lab.
Must have exceptional planning, organizational, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
Experience managing individuals or operations required. Excellent analytic, quantitative and problem solving skills proven ability to leverage skills and influence other leaders across the SBU.
Expert knowledge of product offerings, business processes, product line systems, vendors and databases.
Expert knowledge/expertise of external competitor product offerings.
Expert understanding of insurance concepts and financial metrics.
