Internships

Hands-on risk experience, direct links to customers and colleagues across Liberty Mutual, and dedicated mentorship are just a few benefits of being an Underwriting intern. Here’s a terrific opportunity to build a toolkit that serves you across various types of underwriting roles. You may even have the opportunity to continue your education through a full-time career at Liberty Mutual.

Activities include:

Gaining firsthand underwriting experience and deep knowledge about the business
Direct interaction with customers in underwriting, as well as business partners
Meaningful and value-added project work
Consistent mentorship and guidance throughout your internship
Exposure to executive and leadership teams

Entry-level opportunities

New members in our Underwriting Program select one of two programs. No matter your journey, you’ll develop your analytical and decision-making skills across a wide variety of business operations.

Program includes:

Surety Underwriting Development Program – During this 15 month development program, you will perform financial analysis, conduct contract and project risk assessment, and adhere to established guidelines that are necessary to underwrite Surety bonds. Utilize your passion of working with people to grow your book of business, build and maintain relationships, and avoid losses.
Underwriting Development Program – During this 6 month development program, you’ll learn how to develop a profitable commercial book of business under the guidance of experienced underwriters.

Engage in a broad combination of structured classroom instruction, cutting edge learning tools and on the job training
Participate in a collaborative social learning platform with your peers nationwide
Work with the support of your manager, an assigned mentor and entire team of experienced professionals
Gain exposure to our executives and leaders
Obtain your professional designation
