Actuarial
Our Actuarial teams sit at the intersection of math, data and business strategy. They analyze risk, model financial outcomes and help Liberty price products and make smarter decisions.
What you’ll work on:
As an Actuarial intern, you will build and test statistical models, analyze loss trends, support pricing analysis or present findings to senior leaders, developing skills in both technical and communication skills.
Analytics
From customer behavior to claims patterns, these teams power smarter decision-making across the entire organization.
What you’ll work on:
Expect to dig into large datasets, build dashboards and reports, support A/B testing and collaborate with cross-functional partners to answer questions that actually matter to the business.
Claims
Our Claims teams are on the front lines of Liberty’s promise to customers, helping people recover and rebuild when something goes wrong. You’ll experience firsthand the impact that claims professionals have on the lives of our customers.
What you’ll work on:
As a Claims intern, you’ll learn to investigate, evaluate and resolve claims while developing skills in critical thinking, customer communication and decision-making under real-world conditions.
Finance & accounting
Our Finance and Accounting teams ensure Liberty operates with financial integrity and strategic clarity. They support everything from financial reporting and budgeting to long-term planning and investment analysis.
What you’ll work on:
You’ll receive professional and leadership development and expand your skills in areas such as financial reporting, accounting controls and policy, planning and analytics, and capital management.
Data Science
Our Data Science teams build the models and tools that help Liberty predict risk, detect fraud, personalize customer experiences and make smarter decisions at scale.
What you’ll work on:
You’ll work with large, real-world datasets to build and validate machine learning models, run experiments and collaborate with business teams to turn analytical findings into action.
Risk control
Our Risk Control teams work directly with commercial customers to identify hazards, reduce risk and prevent losses before they happen. It’s hands-on, consultative and customer-facing work.
What you’ll work on:
You’ll receive a mix of online, classroom and hands-on training with the guidance of experienced consultants and mentors to help you develop.
Comparion – Sales
Comparion is Liberty Mutual’s independent insurance agency, helping customers find the right insurance solutions across multiple carriers. Our sales team is customer-first, fast-paced and performance-driven.
What you’ll work on:
As a Sales intern at Comparion, you’ll learn consultative selling, work with prospective customers, support licensed agents and develop communication and relationship-building skills.
Technology
Our Technology teams build and maintain the systems, platforms and tools that power Liberty Mutual, from customer-facing apps to enterprise infrastructure and everything in between.
What you’ll work on:
Through our TechStart program, you’ll work on real development projects, collaborate with experienced engineers and contribute to meaningful technology solutions using modern tools and technology.
Underwriting
Our Underwriting teams evaluate risk and make the decisions that determine what Liberty insures and at what price. It’s analytical, relationship-driven work that sits at the core of what we do.
What you’ll work on:
You’ll learn to assess risk factors, review policy submissions, support pricing decisions and build industry knowledge and judgement.
Recruiting season overview:
We start accepting applications for many of our programs in September, in line with a traditional academic calendar. Our recruiting is handled on a rolling basis and most of the interviews and decisions take place in late October through early spring.
