Lisa identified a problem that was causing frequent jams in the equipment used to send out customer packages. Lisa proactively analyzed the issue and proposed a solution. Lisa’s team engineered, tested and implemented an automated solution resulting in efficiency gains for operators, reduced packaging and postage charges, and an annual savings of $1.7 million. Lisa’s continuous improvement mindset and collaborative efforts optimized operations and drove positive change for the team.

Congratulations to Rashmi Gehani, the winner of this year’s Liberty Innovation Challenge! The challenge invited Liberty employees to share their ideas on how we might empower our customers, partners, colleagues and communities to become more resilient and better prepared for the future. Over 1,300 ideas were submitted and nearly 5,000 employees cast their votes to narrow the field down to five finalists who pitched their ideas to a panel of senior leaders. Congrats to Rashmi for winning first place, and a big thank you to all the finalists and participants for making this year’s challenge such a success.

In my role as a Software Engineer at Liberty Mutual, I am primarily responsible for full-stack development, encompassing the creation of new applications from the database to the user interface. This involves not only building robust and efficient new software solutions but also ensuring the seamless maintenance of existing applications to prevent disruptions for our users. My responsibilities span the entire software development lifecycle, from conception to deployment, as I work to innovate and improve our digital offerings while also ensuring the reliability and stability of our existing systems.

Dave Maxwell has been leading a multi-year effort to bring advanced engineering practices to Data Science, ensuring scalability, reliability, and reproducibility in production by managing and automating the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning models. Through his expertise, Dave has designed and implemented machine learning pipelines across multiple crucial departments, including Underwriting, Marketing, Distribution, Service, and aerial pricing. Always striving for progress, Dave is continuously pushing the boundaries of machine learning capability, with plans to further reduce deployment cycle times in the future.
